What Research and Development Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health

Engineering is responsible for performing research and analyses to develop design options for components, products, systems and processes.

Research and Development Engineering is responsible for developing and implementing new products through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering and documentation practices.

This is a hybrid position (3 days in the office) located in Hazelwood, MO.

Responsibilities:

  • Project and Technical support

  • Participate in multi-departmental teams, to conduct product development and support maintenance of business activities.

  • Manage assigned project tasks to established timelines and generate/maintain status updates

  • DHF Documentation and adherence to guidelines and requirements associated with FDA/QSR design controls

  • Development of product design specifications to include drawings and performance specifications.

  • Product Performance Verification/Validation

  • Product Transfer from R&D to Manufacturing

  • Develop solutions to well defined technical problems

Qualification:

  • Education:  BS in Mechanical, Biomedical, or Plastics Engineering or a related field or relevant work experience.

  • Experience: 0-2 years of experience in medical product development or related field preferred  

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential

  • Able to write well-constructed reports that support conclusions with facts.

  • Works effectively in a diverse group

  • Capable of developing a schedule for smaller development tasks

  • Ability to work in 3-D CAD systems

  • Experience using MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Basic knowledge of medical device design controls is preferred

  • Experience with plastic product design/manufacturing is preferred

  • Works on projects of limited scope and complexity

  • Follows established procedures to resolve readily identifiable technical problems

  • Works under direct supervision and receives detailed instructions

Anticipated salary range: $65,400 - $84,150
