Enterprise Architecture defines architectural models, governance, and transition initiatives to coordinate stakeholders and enable business change, with consideration of application, information, technology and security architecture.
Job Summary:
The Principal Architect, Enterprise Architecture, is a seasoned technologist and architect who drives value to Cardinal Health through technology implementation experience, broad business knowledge, thought leadership, and ability to establish and execute an architecture strategy. This individual must have a deep understanding of the functional and technical sides of the healthcare industry, including corporate functions, delivering flawless customer and supplier experiences.
The role will create strategy, guide enterprise project decisions, designs, and investment to increase speed to market. This role contributes to the Enterprise Architecture team and broader Technology Strategy and Execution & IT team as a visible technical leader by establishing new & innovative solutions and strives to maximize business value and effectiveness, with a focus on continuous improvement, by architecting innovative solutions to provide better service to Cardinal internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Leads the identification and analysis of business drivers to derive enterprise business, information, technical and solution architecture requirements; analyzing industry, technology, and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise
Partners with Enterprise teams to develop multi-year IT strategy for Enterprise Functions, Finance Operations, Nuclear, OptiFreight, and At Home Solutions business divisions.
Bring experience to challenge status quo and devise better ways to achieve business objectives
Leads technical due diligence and road mapping for strategic partnerships, third party partners, mergers, and acquisitions
Leverages relationships across the enterprise to drive agreement via partnership and collaboration with stakeholder group comprising Tech Strategy & Execution (Tech Strategy, EA, PMO, Vendor Management, Strategic initiatives), Business, Solution Owners, COEs, Infrastructure & Shared Services and Security to develop and deploy comprehensive solution architectures.
Design and architect next generation enterprise architectures across multiple enterprise architecture domains including Business, Application, Data & Technology architecture to achieve a low TCO, solution agility and speed to market.
Leads the development of technology transitions or architecture evolutions by creating foundational examples of working solutions and mentors teams on how to build on those examples
Owns software/platform technologies and patterns, techniques, and enable outcomes of Non-Functional Requirements (scalability, availability, performance, security, and operational insight)
Acts as Mentor and Coach for teams and individuals on architecture, strategy, solution owner, engineering, and COE teams
Leads teams in the delivery practices of zero-downtime deployments, continuous delivery, build pipelines, and techniques for team autonomy
Joins teams to assist with / lead development activities in times of need to solve challenging programs or to provide extra development capacity
Qualifications:
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent technical degree preferred with experience in software implementation and development
Experience with enterprise financial processes within OTC and STP functions in SAP or Oracle ERP solutions
10+ years of hands-on development experience with 5+ years as a lead developer /architect preferred
Has demonstrated experience designing architectures of complex distributed systems, and have lead teams through the development of those systems
An expert architect, technologist, and coach with a desire to develop products that positively impact lives
Experience needed in making buy, build & integrate decisions for business
Preferred knowledge of Finance, Customer Service, Transportation, Medical Product and Nuclear Health businesses. Knowledge of RCM a plus.
Significant hands-on experience across the entire enterprise technology stack
Proficiency in ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle Fusion or Workday highly preferred)
Understanding of Applied Artificial Intelligence and Gen AI
Understanding of data modelling in modern relational, graph, NoSQL databases and knowledge of vector databases for solutioning using AI
Experience with RESTful web services and API design
Experience architecting solutions with client-side web development and UI frameworks (Angular/React etc.)
Significant experience with distributed computing and event driven architecture
Proficiency in application/platform security and working with security architects to validate solution requirements for security and data privacy
Strong interpersonal, communication skills and a good work ethic
Ability to lead cross functionally and drive business initiatives
Experience solving problems through technology solutions
Ability to travel as needed (~5 - 10%) and if local to Columbus, Ohio, ability to work in office ~2x days per week

Anticipated salary range: $116,500- $207,755
