What Portfolio Management contributes to Cardinal Health:
Portfolio Management has full profit-and-loss responsibility (from sourcing to commercialization) for a designated category for At Home Solutions. Portfolio Management is responsible for assessing customer needs, market conditions and competition to inform business strategy. Portfolio Management implements the strategy through developing, commercializing and monitoring the appropriate suppliers, products and services.
Job Summary:
The Advisor, Portfolio Management supports category owners by managing item setup and maintenance, sales team requests, pricing discrepancies, substitutes, reporting, AP/chargeback issues, and supply disruption management. The role reports to a Portfolio Management Manager and provides operational, analytical, and tactical support across assigned categories. In addition, the Advisor will own and manage a defined subset of supplier relationships, ensuring alignment of pricing, supply availability, issue resolution, and ongoing business needs.
Responsibilities:
Builds and manages supplier relationships, negotiates distribution agreements, and evaluates supplier performance for the assigned portfolio.
Collaborates with cross functional teams (Pricing, Marketing, Legal, Quality, Regulatory, Planning, Inventory, Finance, Sales, Operations) to execute assigned portfolio strategies.
Monitors category financial performance and report product and category results for assigned portfolio.
Optimizes assortment planning and product positioning, while aligning to the overall category strategy.
Analyzes SKU trends and forecasts to inform merchandising and pricing strategies.
Executes tactical portfolio tasks, including: Setting up new items in internal systems/ Executing supplier price changes/ Managing disruptions, discontinuations and rationalization activities/ Providing operational support to the Portfolio Manager/ Seeks guidance from senior Portfolio Management leaders when needed.
Qualifications:
4–8 years of experience in sourcing, category management, supply chain, or sales support preferred
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience preferred.
Ability to support or lead sourcing projects, assist with supplier negotiations, and help maintain positive supplier relationships to improve cost, quality, and delivery.
Comfortable gathering and analyzing basic data and market insights to identify opportunities and support category planning and decisions.
Incontinence, Enteral, PPE category experience would be ideal.
