What Warehouse Operations contributes to Cardinal Health
Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning.
Warehouse Operations is responsible for performing/controlling a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product. This may include functions of receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, delivery, etc. Also responsible for the efficient flow of products from the point of product receipt from vendors to the shipment of products (via prescribed service parameters) to a variety of internal and external customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Receiving:
Oversee the receiving of inbound shipments and inventory, ensuring accuracy in counts, documentation, and quality control.
Coordinate with the inventory control team to ensure proper placement and tracking of incoming stock.
Address any issues with damaged goods or discrepancies in shipments.
Pick, Pack, and Ship:
Manage and monitor the picking and packing processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Oversee the preparation and shipping of orders, ensuring timely and accurate dispatch.
Implement strategies to streamline workflows, reduce errors, and enhance productivity.
Team Leadership:
Supervise and manage the 2nd shift warehouse staff, including assigning tasks, conducting training, and addressing any performance issues.
Foster a positive and safe working environment.
Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to the team to promote continuous improvement.
Operations Management:
- Monitor daily operations to ensure the warehouse meets productivity and accuracy targets.
Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory, monitor KPIs, and generate reports.
Coordinate with other departments such as procurement, inventory control, and customer service to ensure smooth operations.
Safety and Compliance:
Enforce warehouse safety protocols and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Address and resolve safety concerns promptly, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
