This position is remote day-to-day; however, ideal candidates will reside within reasonable driving distance to corporate headquarters (Dublin, OH) and can travel to the office up to 1-3 times per quarter.
What Marketing Communications contributes to Cardinal Health
This position is part of the Creative Services sub-team of the larger Medical Segment Marketing Communications team. Collectively, Marketing Communications is responsible for partnering with cross-functional teams throughout the Medical Segment to deploy, measure and optimize omnichannel marketing strategies used to attract, engage and retain an audience. We do this by creating and sharing valuable, relevant and consistent content to establish expertise, promote brand awareness and drive demand. Creative Services is responsible for the conception, design and production of creative projects and programs from intake through delivery. Creative Services also maintains our corporate brand identity and consistently seeks to evolve our visual language over time.
Job Summary
The Lead Designer, Visual and Motion, helps determine and lead the strategic direction and creation of brand-right multimedia marketing communications materials for the Medical Segment, with a keen focus on ideating and executing animation and video editing work. The Lead Designer works closely with in-house account managers, business leads, copywriters and peer designers to build holistic visual systems that directly address unique business challenges and inspire desired action from target audiences. They will also help lead, develop and pitch creative concepts to internal business partners, then help guide execution by the larger creative team throughout derivative, multimedia materials. The Lead Designer must leverage their deep expertise to consistently achieve the highest possible standards for all assignments, while also working to inspire great work out of their peers and cross-functional colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Designs creative campaign elements from start to finish, with a strong focus on leading and developing animation and video deliverables, as well as creative concepts. Able to pinch-hit on variety of static design needs such as content pieces, ads, etc.
- Visually and verbally explains creative concepts, decisions and works to variety of internal stakeholders, with intent to gain alignment and approvals.
- Collaboratively leads multidisciplinary teams through projects of varying complexity while working to improve the team’s overall performance.
- Consistently provides constructive feedback to peers on variety of creative work.
- Develops initial layouts, storyboards or mock-ups for creative review.
- Produces and is accountable for the final development of creative assets and ensures accuracy, attention to detail and overall meets or exceeds the design objectives within Brand standards.
- Efficiently manages own high-volume workload, with ability to prioritize and adapt in response to dynamic business needs.
- Reviews peer in-house work and agency-created work for alignment to Brand and effectiveness against strategic objectives.
- Engages in professional development to continuously grow in profession and remain competitive with outside services.
Qualifications
- Diverse portfolio of work that clearly demonstrates excellent motion, video, typography, design and production skills in digital mediums. Experience in print mediums a plus.
- Experience ideating, developing and successfully pitching creative concepts to diverse partners, for intended execution across digital, social and print platforms.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams through projects of varying complexity.
- Strong strategic thinking with awareness of the project lifecycle, necessary timelines, business challenges and team communication.
- Strong presentation skills and demonstrated success building alignment between diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership.
- Expert command of Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects/Premiere Pro, Acrobat and Illustrator. Adobe certification a plus.
- Understanding of UX and interactive design principles.
- Experience in interactive platforms such as Ceros, XD, and/or Sketch.
- Highly organized with a strong record of working independently and collaboratively while meeting all deadlines.
- 8+ years professional level experience in creative/graphic design within an external or in-house agency, with demonstrated, deep experience in motion graphic work preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in Graphic Design or related field
- Digital Portfolio required (portfolio website or PDF under 10MB)

Anticipated salary range: $86,400 - $123,400
