Enterprise Architecture (EA) group leads transformation by creating business & technical strategies, delivering reference architectures, driving innovative solutions into production and forward engineering new capabilities into the market. EA focuses on technology solutions to meet current and anticipated business need as efficiently as possible, with speed and optimal cost in support of our growing business.  The Information Architecture & ML team within EA leads our Data Science practice and drives business innovation by pursuing emerging technologies and turns them into differentiating business capabilities. 

I. Job Overview

Identify growth opportunities for Cardinal Health to expand our role in the healthcare ecosystem via digital solutions. Create and deliver new / enhanced business value at Cardinal Health by influencing and leading change within the Information domain across Business and IT. Establish a deep understanding of the functional and technical aspects of our information landscape and create architectures, establish frameworks, guide project decisions, designs and investment to increase speed to market and efficiency of changes.

Become a visible technical leader within EA and Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) by contributing to talent acquisition and development as well as contributing to areas outside area of responsibility when needed.

II. Specific Duties, Competencies and Accountabilities:  

Required Competencies:

  • Implementation experience across both software and information stacks (open source and Google Cloud Platform preferred)
  • Proactively develops and maintains technical knowledge in specialized area(s) including the Google Cloud Platform, AI / ML, Cyber Security, and remaining up-to-date on current trends and best practices.
  • Proactively develops, maintains and evangelizes technical knowledge in information technologies like Machine Learning, Streaming Analytics, Graph Databases, software engineering and adjacent technologies.
  • Strong strategic and technical thought leadership and ability to align diverse opinions.
  • Experience leading complex data and / or software Architecture and Strategies
  • Encourages informed risk-taking and acts as a catalyst for innovation at Cardinal Health; generates practical, sustainable and creative options to solve problems and create business opportunities, while maximizing existing resources.
  • Take current problem domain and architect / design solutions that solve immediate business need, meet current standards and support principles and related reference architectures.
  • Performs assessments and listens to internal/external customers to understand and anticipate their needs and determine their priorities in the context of the overall enterprise.
  • Ability to Identify high-value business opportunities and work with Business and IT stakeholders to realize business benefit.
  • Work across diverse teams, perspectives and opinions and quickly build consensus.

Accountabilities in this role:

  • Produces IT strategies, reference architectures and roadmaps within data & software architecture domain based on business strategy, business and IT trends, and current and future architectures.
  • Effectively communicate and influence others towards moving to future state architectures.
  • Improve time to market through the identification of re-useable technical assets and incorporating these into enterprise data architecture models and enterprise data architecture standards.
  • Engage in and lead forward engineering efforts by architecting, designing and in some cases building data solutions based upon cloud technologies.
  • Drives in-depth assessment/POC of emerging technologies to validate that the technology and architecture is appropriate for business solution needs
  • Collaborates closely with peer architects to create, socialize and manage patterns for Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Advanced Analytics and Data Science.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects across business domains.
  • Ability to weigh Risk & ROI against Schedule & Budget considerations and provide recommendations.
  • Requires familiarity with multiple development methodologies.
  • Assist in implementation of ML related efforts.
  • Establish buy vs build guidance.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of up and downstream impacts implementing solutions using technologies.
  • Aide adoption of cutting edge solutions within the business by conducting training, coordinating demos.
  • Support and influence delivery operations within platforms by continually looking for opportunities to streamline delivery, increase business value and measure platform value via metrics and measures.
  • Build solution architectures (often incrementally) that aligns requirements, reference architectures design patterns and technology standards to achieve solution agility and speed to implementation.
  • Support the creation of IT strategies and road maps based on business strategy, business and IT trends, and current and future architectures.
  • Effectively communicate and influence others towards future state solutions and architectures.  Evangelize the purpose and value of Digital solutions.
  • Partner with application, information, integration, and infrastructure architects to help position appropriate usage of technology for segment solutions.

III. Position Requirements:

Education or Equivalent:

  • Undergraduate degree in computer science or related field.  An MBA or advanced technical degree is preferred.  

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 7+ years of experience with involvement in application development, data architecture, system integration, machine learning.
  • 3+ years of delivering cloud-based solutions (Google Cloud preferred Cloud AI Platform, Cloud Dataflow, Google BigQuery, Tensorflow, Cloud Spanner)
  • 3+ years of experience in implementing Data / Technology strategies
  • Proven experience as a tech lead or architect
  • Understanding of data architecture, software engineering, APIs and integration concepts, Data Streaming, Machine Learning
  • Experience with modern development methodologies & approaches such as Agile, DevOps, CICD

Preferred:

  • Experience with Machine Learning and related technologies such as Tensorflow Python, Torch, Amazon SageMaker, Jupiter Notebooks.
  • Software engineering experience (Angular, NodeJS, mySQL, Kubernetes, RESTful API, Python)
  • 3+ years in the distribution or Healthcare industry and knowledge of their business practices

Work Environment:

  • Travel Required ~ 10%
  • Some car diving between CAH Dublin locations is desired for some face to face meetings
  • Would be required to work onsite with flexibility on working remotely based on manager discretion
