What Inventory Management contributes to Cardinal Health
Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning.
Inventory Management is accountable for the design and execution of demand planning and customer forecasting systems, supply planning, product deployment and expediting processes, and the development and implementation of a stocking optimization model to minimize costs and inventory while delivering on service requirements. As Warehouse Operations Supervisor (Inventory Management) you will supervise a team of 5-30 staff members who support the site across all shifts.
The Supervisor continually monitors efficiency and quality metrics, assigns work and provides coaching to supervised staff, and addresses a variety of operational issues. The Supervisor directly contributes to Cardinal Health’s customer service reputation by ensuring that shipments are on-time and of high quality, develops the Warehouse Operations talent pool, and enhances operational excellence.
Qualifications
- 4-8 years of experience, preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
- Strong organizational skills are desired for success in this role
- Prior experience with inventory control, continuous improvement projects and initiatives preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience leading a team.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel (Pivot Tables and spreadsheets)
- Experience working within ERP’s (SAP or Manhattan) preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Directs and manages a team of inventory control warehouse associates to account for timely distribution and receipt of products and motivate employees to ensure that predetermined productivity and quality standards are achieved.
- Oversees all inventory control operations which includes; managing the flow of goods, optimizing inventory levels, and ensuring efficient and accurate warehouse operations.
- Oversees the completion of SOX Reporting requirements, participates in QA events, reporting and resolution of Inbound and Outbound discrepancy, processing of customer returns, error resolution, cycle count compliance, profiling assistance and service issues.
- Implements best practices and maintains accurate inventory records.
- Adheres to budgetary guidelines and works to meet Distribution Center objectives and operational goals while maintaining standards pertaining to quality and inventory.
- Drives and participates in continuous improvement projects and initiatives.
- Performs daily scheduling of the work force to ensure proper staffing to select, replenish, restock, locate, and ship merchandise in a productive and cost-efficient manner.
- Develops and maintains an inventory tracking system.
- Evaluates inventory levels, reorder points, and stock availability regularly.
- Monitors and reports inventory accuracy and shrinkage.
- Designs and implements inventory control procedures.
- Examines raw material levels and identify shortages.
- Documents daily shipments and deliveries for replenishment
- Avoids excessive surplus or inefficiencies by properly ordering new supplies.
- Actively engages in employee development, which includes training, coaching, counseling, and performance appraisals.
- Collaborates with cross functional teams at all levels within the organization, specifically within HR groups on a daily basis.
- Interviews and makes hiring decisions for lead and associate level roles.
- Maintains general responsibility for disciplinary process in the area of counseling, oral and written warnings; ensure a productive work climate in the warehouse operation.
- Prepares ad hoc reports, as necessary using Excel (or any other necessary programs)
- Reviews attendance/PTO records and ensures scheduling is maintained.
- Holds staff accountable for conducting work in a safe manner while enforcing Cardinal Health compliance and regulations concerning OSHA, DEA, FDA, State and local authorities.
- Majority of workday is spent on the floor while balancing administrative duties.

Anticipated salary range: $74,400 - $111,615
