What Materials Management contributes to Cardinal Health
Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning. Materials Management is responsible for the management of material inventory levels to ensure that raw material components and manufactured products are available when needed to satisfy the plant and customer requirements. Responsibilities include the planning and procurement of material components to minimize obsolescence and overstock situations while achieving maximum customer service levels.
Responsible for maintaining supplier relations at a tactical level, may negotiate product cost with approved suppliers, and utilizing terms and conditions, working with internal customers to reduce overall product cost. Support the improvement of supply chain and evaluate supplier performance, and executing purchase orders and manages raw material inventory. Initiate, manage, track and support raw materials related projects and cost saving. Support material quality efforts. Develop and manage KPIs for materials team. Support other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- BS or BA Supply Chain Management or equivalent, Supply chain certificate and 2+ years’ experience, or 4+ years equivalent experience preferred
- MBA Preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a related field
- Project Management experience minimum 2 years
- Experience with sourcing ideas and identifying/protecting intellectual property
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, required excellent skills in MS Excel (Pivot Tables), PowerPoint.
- Experience in MRP systems and processes preferred
- Procurement 4+ years’ experience preferred.
- Prior Purchasing and Supply Chain experience with contract manufacturing
- Experience procuring custom materials and Commercial of the Shelf (COTS) items preferred
- Experience working with BOMS and ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams and to identify electronic components
- Superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively and interact with personnel at all levels of technical ability and expertise

- Evaluates alternative solutions/decisions considering the potential impact/s on quality, cost and delivery.
Anticipated hourly range: $23.00 per hour - $33.00 per hour
