Job Summary

The Sorting Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the sorting team, ensuring the efficient flow of operations, adherence to quality standards, and accurate data entry of sorted devices. This position also involves coordination with various teams to manage collections, track material status, and maintain compliance with safety and environmental guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the sorting team, ensuring optimal efficiency, meeting quality requirements, and accurate entry of sorted device data.

  • Analyze collections data alongside the collections team, tracking shifts/changes in customer quantities and coordinating with planners to identify deficiencies in device collections.

  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, R&D, Collections, Marketing, and Planning teams to support sample collection and project related tasks.

  • Ensure all sorting areas are safe, organized, and compliant with EH&S policies and 6S methods.

  • Oversee and track collected devices designated for reprocessing or rejection.

  • Manage timecard entries and PTO requests, adhering to company policies.

  • Provide support and handle escalations with line leads, ensuring smooth daily operations and required personnel are available.

  • Ensure all required training is completed on time, collaborating with line leads to track and follow up on overdue training.

  • Monitor productivity levels from the previous day, addressing performance concerns and ensuring staff meet efficiency targets (95% signed off on).

  • Utilize the DMS Power BI screen tracker to monitor performance, addressing any discrepancies as needed.

  • Ensure the sorting team has all necessary materials (e.g., Renu labels, used med tags).

  • Work with the warehouse team to track delays (days behind) and pending material waiting to be unloaded from truck.

  • Attend daily meetings, discussing sorting status, any delays, the number of boxes received from the warehouse, and feedback from production team.

  • Review and respond to emails, especially feedback from production teams and potential hazardous material findings (e.g., blood, needles, pharmaceutical waste).

  • Ensure hazardous materials are reported with proper documentation, pictures, and follow-up with the collections and marketing teams.

  • Oversee and document daily cleaning checklists, conduct audits for compliance, and prepare monthly and end-of-month production reports, including headcount and attendance updates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred

  • 3-5 years related work experience, preferred

  • Proficiency in using data management systems (e.g., Power BI), preferred 

  • Proven experience in sorting or operations management

  • Strong analytical skills for tracking data and identifying trends

  • Ability to lead and manage a team effectively, ensuring efficiency and adherence to standards

  • Knowledge of EH&S policies, 6S methods, and safety compliance

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate across multiple teams

Anticipated salary range: $66,500 - $99,645
