What Product and Solutions Marketing contributes to Cardinal Health


Marketing is responsible for assessing customer needs, market conditions and competition to inform business strategy. Marketing implements the strategy through developing, commercializing and monitoring the appropriate products and services.

Product & Solutions Marketing is responsible for defining the product/service and market strategy and life cycle management including customer need identification, market research, product or service offering, pricing, positioning, promotion, branding and distribution to drive customer loyalty, sales growth and improved profitability.


The Category Marketing Manager is responsible for leveraging manufacturer trade funds to develop marketing plans that increase product distribution and category growth. This includes building strong relationships with category managers and key suppliers, identifying new market opportunities, ensuring contractual marketing obligations are met, and driving successful execution of supplier and private label plans to meet category goals.

Responsibilities

The Category Marketing Manager is responsible for marketing relationships with manufacturers to develop and manage annual marketing plans to increase product distribution and trial.

  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of marketing disciplines and concepts necessary for building business, marketing, product, and promotional plans.
  • Develop annual promotional calendar with appropriate metrics and key performance indicators to ensure that the portfolio revenue and profitability growth is in line with strategic and company objectives.
  • Gain and drive cross-functional support among all stakeholders involved in the execution of the solutions and program portfolio to achieve key marketing and business objectives. Cross-functional groups include but are not limited to category management, sales, inventory management, sourcing, communications, finance, retail operations, and others including external agencies, printers, and fulfillment centers.
  • Demonstrate strong financial acumen and logical decision-making in the general business environment.
  • Understand and demonstrate sound thought processes as it relates to forecasting, promotional pricing, deal structures, and assessing financial implications.
  • Ensure that all promotional, launch, and marketing activities align with the overall portfolio strategy and facilitate proper communication and collaboration with all applicable marketing resources including external agencies, printers, and fulfillment centers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing, advertising, or a related field, preferred
  • Retail marketing and/or business-to-business marketing experience preferred
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and timeline-driven
  • Proficient to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success defining and launching solutions/products
  • Strong background in Product/Program Management, Product/Program Marketing, and cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Pricing, Operations, Sourcing, and Supply Chain
  • Experience translating market and customer needs into clearly defined requirements, objectives, strategies, and tactics to drive sales & profitability of the business
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority

Anticipated salary range: $103,500 - $147,900
