Department Overview 

Advanced Analytics and Automation Team builds automation, analytics and artificial intelligence solutions that drive success for Cardinal Health by creating material savings, efficiencies, and revenue growth opportunities.

The Statistician, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) is an Analyst role and will be responsible for supporting the Cardinal Health Specialty Solutions HEOR Research team. The HEOR team conducts real-world research in the areas of epidemiology, burden of illness and comparative effectiveness for pharmaceutical manufacturers primarily in oncology, rheumatology and neurology.

Responsibilities for this role:

  • Creation of analytic data sets from secondary data sources (EMR, administrative claims) and primary data sources (chart reviews), conduct statistical analyses, and design/create charts, graphs, tables, and reports, to disseminate research findings to our clients.
  • Identify and effectively use internal and external data sources and literature references to support client projects. Assess data quality and completeness. Create queries for calculating metrics and benchmarks for communicating data issues.
  • Serve as the internal primary point of contact for analytic requests, including creating analytic data sets and coordinating ad hoc analyses to address requests from clients or other team members  
  • Prepares HEOR data as background materials for discussion with pharmaceutical customers
  • Develop analyses to support internally sponsored publications for national/international conferences and peer reviewed journals.
  • Provide excellent customer service when delivering work on project
  • Collaboration with HEOR team, as required, to compile evidence required to execute projects for pharmaceutical clients and to assist with background materials for reports and publications.
  • Interaction with HEOR staff to identify research activities and/or evidence to advance health care efficiencies for pharmaceutical clients.
  • Partners with Product Owner(s) to ensure continuous refinement of backlog, which may include stories from multiple projects.
  • Coach and Mentor junior Operation Team members
  • Training and mentoring individuals on application support and delivery disciplines

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, computer science, Information Systems, related technical degree, or MS or MPH, plus 1 year of experience working with Real World Data  or equivalent industry experience, and a minimum 9 years of relevant experience
  • 8+ years’ working experience in Data Analytics / Statistical Analysis areas.
  • Strong experience and understanding of Agile methodology.
  • Strong understanding of real-world research and HEOR and its application to specialty oncology drugs within the US market especially economic modeling, evidence synthesis and other analytical techniques required to support payer needs is preferred
  • Experience with administrative claims and survey based healthcare data (preferably oncology related), highly preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience programming with SQL, highly preferred
  • Experience with predictive modeling including regression analysis as well as languages like R and Python
  • Experience with survival analysis (Kaplan Meier plots, Cox modeling), highly preferred
  • Well-developed conceptual and integrative thinking with capability to access internal and external resources for advice.
  • High degree of autonomy with the ability to carry out assignments quickly
  • Willingness to adapt to and self-learn new technologies and deliver on them
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to clearly articulate status of requests and issues both with IT and business partners
