R&D Electronics/Electromechanical Technician

Cardinal Health is seeking an electromechanical/electronics technician to assist in research and development projects of a broad variety of medical devices and provide technical assistance to R&D electrical and systems engineering staff as required.

What Product Development contributes to Cardinal Health

Research is responsible for the development of new and improved products through initiating, designing, developing and executing research and product development projects.

Product Development is responsible for developing and commercializing new and improved products that meet or exceed customer requirements according to the established product development process and quality procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining an organized lab workspace for self-use and use by engineering staff.

  • Interpret electronics PCBA schematics and perform testing, soldering tasks, data acquisition and analysis tasks on PCBAs, electromechanical medical devices and assemblies.

  • Install, maintain, calibrate, handle equipment exceptions and CAPAs, and operate a variety of electronic and electromechanical test equipment and hand and power tools.

  • Perform a broad variety of bench and systems test set ups, test, and measurements on PCBAs and devices.

  • Contribute to the development of electronic subsystems, circuits and PCBAs, and subassemblies.

  • Develop and fabricate electromechanical test fixtures, independently and in partnership with electrical engineers and be able to build the fixtures from ground up, including mechanical housings, electronics assemblies, and test scripting as needed.

  • Assist with development and modernization of electronics lab, including Capital equipment recommendations and purchases, perform purchase of miscellaneous expense items such as parts, components, and tools.

Qualifications

  • AAS/BS Electronics, Electro-mechanical technology preferred, High School Diploma with experience, GED or technical certification in related field or equivalent experience,

  • 3-6 years of experience with electronics test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal analyzers, soldering work on PCBA assemblies, SMD component soldering, electrical and electronics schematics, electromechanical test fixture fabrication, sub-systems and systems integration, preferred

  • Hands-on experience with test fixture development scripting, such as LabView, python, Visual Basic, etc. would be a plus.

  • Ability to understand and interpret electronics schematics drawings and PCBA layouts.

  • Proficiency in technical report writing, data analytics, and presentations.

  • IPC610 soldering Certification or advanced soldering skills a plus.

  • Detail-oriented, quality and precision focused

Anticipated salary range: $21.50 - $30.70
