Manager, Group Purchasing Organization

Cardinal Health Canada, with over 1400 employees nationwide, is an essential link in the Canadian healthcare supply chain, providing over 70,000 products to healthcare facilities and medical professionals across the country.

Cardinal Health Canada is seeking a Manager, Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) to manage the GPO contracting process. The Manager, GPO works in collaboration with the GPO Council and both internal and external teams to drive Cardinal Health segment growth within Canadian Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs), most notably HealthPRO and Mohawk MedBuy Corporation.

The Manager, GPO works in collaboration with leaders at all levels and internal functions, including the regional sales leaders to plan, prepare and mobilize resources for RFP opportunities, secure contractual agreements, utilize and provide insights to maximize contract value and execute on the RFP wins to drive compliance and incremental growth. This individual will also build sustainable trusting relationships both internally at Cardinal Health and externally within the GPOs at various levels. This role will support focused efforts to drive profitable growth for the various portfolios including Cardinal Health brand, Services and Solutions and National Brand products and collaborate with leaders to execute on contracting strategy to enhance customer experience.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Participate in the development of the contact strategy for Canadian GPOs in collaboration with Sales leaders and the GPO Council.

  • Coordinate the analysis of RFPs through understanding of risks and opportunities, pricing and financial impact.

  • Coordinate with internal teams to execute on the pre-RFP process and RFP submission.  

  • Prepare the quarterly business review and partner with the Sales Leaders owning the GPO C-Suite relationship.

  • Facilitate the strategy discussion and all GPO Council meetings, including preparation and meeting management items.

  • Work with the GPO Council to prepare and refine strategy for key categories.

  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry including key trends and challenges, government regulation and advanced knowledge of how Cardinal Health Canada offerings support customers.

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of customer's successes, challenges, and strategic objectives; draw from experience and financial acumen to recognize and provide advice regarding potential opportunities and risks.

  • Partner with regional sales leaders to ensure contract compliance and deliver on requirements.

  • Work closely with sales leader for the annual and long-range financial planning.

  • Work with internal teams to develop dashboards on GPO contract performance to track and monitor contract execution, compliance and track all rebates

  • Contribute to the development of the broader distribution, service, and product sales strategy.

  • Collaborate effectively across all commercial groups and the broader organization

  • Build and maintain operational relationships with GPO counterparts and internally with the Cardinal Health contracting, commercial and sales teams

This Job might be for you if: 

  • BS/BA Business or equivalent

  • Minimum five (5) years general business experience and five (5) years preferred in sales contracting

  • Experience in both distribution and product sales, including understanding of Acute healthcare market and group purchasing processes

  • Demonstrated data analytical skills which enable informed decision making aligned with strategic growth, customer planning and execution.  Ability to build mutually beneficial networks and partnerships with GPO teams to develop value-generating solutions

  • Change management experience. High level of project management competency, with ability to inspire and mobilize a team through periods of continuous change and transformation

  • Challenge status quo, ability to develop new processes and related plan and ensure flawless execution

  • Experience working cross-functionally and collaboratively with other teams on deliverables

  • Demonstrated ability to influence others including senior leaders into agreement in sensitive situations while maintaining positive relationships

  • Strategic approach to problem-solving and proactive troubleshooting abilities

  • Results focused with a strong sense of urgency

  • Advanced knowledge of SalesForce.com and Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
