The Central Fill Pharmacy technician provides technical support for the pharmacist of the Central Fill Pharmacy and is primarily responsible for performing the duties of preparing and dispensing of medications and other required Central Fill Pharmacy responsibilities.

Hours: Monday-Friday 10:00 AM-7:00 PM. Schedule may change based on business needs.

Cardinal Health is looking for a highly motivated technician to work in a Central Fill pharmacy. Our technicians play an important role in delivering medication and pharmaceutical care to patients. This includes working in a high pace and high-volume production environment assisting the pharmacists in accurately preparing and delivering prescription medication.

Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all state and federal laws and regulations, Central Fill Pharmacy and Cardinal Health company policies and procedures

  • Prepare and dispense medication orders under the direct oversight of a pharmacist

  • Ensure that the medication dispensing areas and equipment are maintained in a neat and orderly manner and replenish medications and supplies as needed

  • Assist in the monitoring and maintenance of medication storage areas

  • Assist in the ordering, receiving and stocking of the Central Fill Pharmacy replenishment orders

  • Assist in the packaging and shipping of orders to customers (clients)

  • Assist in the maintenance and proper storage of all Central Fill Pharmacy records

  • Employ the principles of safe medication practice as dictated by the Central Fill Pharmacy policies and procedures and state and federal requirements

  • Protect, at all times, the assets, records and medications of the Central Fill Pharmacy against theft and diversion.

  • Ensure that the Central Fill Pharmacy customers (clients) have friendly and positive experience and that their issues and concerns are resolved timely and satisfactorily

  • Perform housekeeping duties

  • Perform other operational duties that may be assigned by the Central Fill Pharmacy manager/PIC

  • Assist in the training and development of the Central Fill Pharmacy staff

  • Assist in the maintenance of a safe working environment

  • Contribute to the assessment and improvement of the Central Fill Pharmacy’s operating efficiencies

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to mobilize pallets and drug totes.

  • Able to lift 30 pounds

  • Able to pull or push a minimum of 60 pounds

  • Able to stand a minimum of six(6) to eight(8) hours per shift

Qualifications / Required Certification / Licensing

  • Valid California Pharmacy Technician License

  • Experience in a high volume prescription environment preferably in central fill or mail order pharmacies.

  • High degree of accuracy and initiative

  • Self-motivated with the ability to complete work and assignments with a minimum of supervision under rigid time constraints.

  • Detail oriented with ability to prioritize work

  • Customer (client) relations skills including meeting customer (client) needs and resolution of customer (client) issues and concerns

  • Ability to work different schedules to meet pharmacy and customer needs

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel preferred

Anticipated hourly range: $19.90 per hour - $28.40 per hour
