Section Manager, Equipment and Innovation

Location: Rayong, Thailand

Reporting to: Senior Manager, Surgical Gloves

Summary

This position will be responsible for:

  • leading the automation and innovation engineering team for the surgical gloves business unit.
  • leading the team that offers machine and mechanical engineering support to other functions.
  • developing and leading key initiatives related to manufacturing strategy.

Job Description

  • Study and analyze existing plant performance e.g., energy usage, manpower usage, time usage etc. and compare against benchmark.
  • Conduct external (Supplier visits, fairs, expos, institute visits etc) and Internal Ideation (cross functional brainstorming) to improve plant performance.
  • Develop roadmap for automation and innovation of the surgical gloves business.
  • Develop prototype proposals and/or trial proposals to check viability of ideas generated.
  • Fabricate prototypes and conduct trials and facilitate GO/No Go decision making on ideas.
  • Lead capital approval request (CAR) process for automation and innovation ideas.
  • Manage the incubation, execution and deployment process for innovation and automation - Ideation -> Conceptual Design -> Basic Design -> Detailed Design -> CAR -> Installation -> Closed.
  • Facilitate PDCA cycle to keep benchmark updated and repeat above steps.
  • Manage master idea list and idea pipeline for innovation and automation.  Continually update this idea list with new ideas.
  • Provide machine-related engineering support to other business functions and departments (including but not limited to sustaining engineering, maintenance, facilities etc).
  • Play a key role in advising the surgical glove business regarding optimum manufacturing strategy.
  • Manage team resources to fulfill all above functions and ensure team goal accomplishment.
  • To responsible for Safety in the workplace and safety of direct report staff (if any).
  • To responsible for monitoring and evaluating direct reports (if any) for compliance to workplace safety and environmental policy.
  • Emphasize company environment health and safety rules and regulations to employees and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure that all accidents & near miss are reported to management and/or direct supervisor and injured are given proper treatment.
  • For Supervisory level employees, investigate all accident & near miss and make necessary reports and recommendations.
  • For Supervisory level employees, take disciplinary action on any safety violation in consultation with Safety Officer and or Human Resource Manager

Qualifications & Experience

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering bachelor’s degree
  • Over ten years’ experience leading teams of engineers in medium to large manufacturing environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Thai
  • Knowledge and experience in Thermodynamics, HVAC systems, heat-mass balance etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in machine maintenance or Engineering
  • Knowledge and experience in materials and metallurgy
  • Machine sizing calculations, unit conversion knowledge and experience
  • Mechanisms (e.g., four-bar linkage, cam-follower, degree of freedom etc.) knowledge and experience
  • Logic control basic knowledge and experience
  • Trouble shooting techniques know-how (E.g., Kepner-Tregoe method or any tools)
  • Vibration Analysis know-how (Vibration Analyst Level II)
  • Experience in Strategy development, project planning and execution – Capital, ROI analysis, construction, installation, deployment etc.
