What Application Development & Maintenance contributes to Cardinal Health

Information Technology oversees the effective development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This function anticipates, plans, and delivers Information Technology solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value.

Application Development & Maintenance performs configuration or coding to develop, enhance and sustain the organization's software systems in a cross-functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. This job family programs and configures end user applications, systems, databases and websites to achieve the organization's internal needs and externally-facing business needs. Application Development & Maintenance partners with business leaders, investigates user needs and conducts regular assessments, maintenance and enhancements of existing applications.

Qualifications

  • 14 years or more of relevant experience
  • BTech or above or equivalent experience in related field. Advance Degree may be required


What is expected of you and others at this level

Software Engineering is responsible for designing, developing, implementing and supporting applications, systems and IT products required to achieve the company's business objectives.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of software development techniques and fluency in software languages and application programming interfaces.
  • Demonstrates general understanding of hardware/software platforms including but not limited to operating systems, databases, application servers, web servers and integration technologies.
  • Plans and executes system implementations that ensure success and minimize risk of system outages or other negative production impacts.
  • Demonstrates conceptual knowledge of architecture standards and  database and operating systems.
  • Demonstrates problem solving ability that allows for effective and timely resolution of system issues including but not limited to production outages.
  • Analyzes production system operations using tools such as monitoring, capacity analysis and outage root cause analysis to identify and drive change that ensures continuous improvement in system stability and performance.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of software development, life cycle, modeling of business processes, application design patterns, business/functional documents.
  • Estimates to high level business requirements and provide options analysis.
  • Providing technical leadership to a team developing and maintaining cloud-friendly applications using multiple cloud-based technologies Driving automated testing and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (e.g., Concourse, Jenkins) and Working closely with the business product owners and DevSecOps teams to: Prioritize features in the backlogs, Provide guidance on design and implementation of new technology and Identify special projects and new technologies to align with strategic priorities.

  • Programming/ application development experience including one or more of the following technologies: JAVA Spring Boot, Hibernate, Groovy.

  • Designing and developing user interfaces using Angular best practices.
  • Ability and aptitude for cloud-based software development in a team environment
  • Passion/self-motivation for on-going continuous learning
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills preferred 
  • Excellent organizational skills preferred 
  • Applies advanced knowledge and understanding of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to manage a wide variety of projects
