Senior Software Engineer, R&D

Summary

Research and Development (R&D) Engineering is responsible for developing and implementing new products and performing sustaining activities for commercially available products. These responsibilities are done through adherence to established design control procedures and good engineering and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and debug software and firmware for electro-mechanical medical devices.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation required to support design control requirements and regulatory submissions.

  • Work closely with global cross functional teams and external vendors to ensure timely project delivery.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of software development lifecycle.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of software development techniques and fluency in software languages and application programming interfaces.

  • Demonstrates problem solving ability that allows effective and timely resolution of product issues, including issues relating to electronic and mechanical systems.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A BS degree in computer science, engineering, or computer information systems or equivalent, preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience related work experience preferred.

  • Software development in an RTOS environment.

  • Software development for mechatronic systems.

  • Proficient in C, C++ for embedded software development.

  • Hardware development and debugging experience.

  • Experience with regulated, class II or III medical device development is strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge of IEC 62304 – Medical Device Software Standard and the application of Risk Management per ISO 14971.

  • Experience in motor control design, sensors inputs and wireless communication modules is strongly preferred.

  • Team player qualities and good interpersonal skills.

  • Creative and innovative problem-solving skills.
