Senior Controls Manufacturing Engineer - Automation

Responsible for providing leadership and technical expertise to the department and the plant, maintenance & operations for the specification, design, installation, start-up, and sustenance of plant process and support equipment. Oversee multiple projects and provide support to project teams, particularly as it applies to automation and support equipment. Responsible for using technical and lean manufacturing tools to complete a variety of plant continuous improvement projects. Projects may already be in a variety of different statuses from non-existent, to concept known, to ready to implement. Drive activities which support Crystal Lake safety programs.

What Manufacturing Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health

Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for developing manufacturing processes, production floor layouts and associated tools. Review new designs for manufacturability. Designs process improvements to reduce product cost, process cycle time and improved product quality.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • A minimum of 2+ years related work experience required; 5+ years preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

  • Support maintenance, operations & project teams by providing direct technical direction during trouble shooting exercises for molding, assembly and packaging automation.
  • Project Management of capital automation & improvement projects.
  • Lead automation optimization, standardization & safety improvement programs
