What Business Analysis contributes to Cardinal Health

Business Analysis is responsible for deeply understanding the business in multiple functional areas and across Business Units, as well as understanding the application landscape and capabilities. They maintain relationships with the business and leverage requirements engineering practices and methods to enable improved business processes to drive business success. They align business strategies and capability needs into business and technical requirements to ensure IT systems enable the desired value.

  • Knows and executes best practices for business analysis processes and functions (from an industry and strategic standpoint), including requirements elicitation methods. Knows emerging trends.
  • Defines requirements in accordance with SDP/SDLC, management and project/product scope. Ensures problem statements and objectives are clearly defined. Ensures requirements are aligned to project scope, objectives and strategies.
  • Leads elicitation sessions using variety of requirements gathering methods such as interviews, documentation analysis, surveys, site visits, business models with executives, managers, developers and subject matter experts.
  • Facilitates the team through the analysis of, and makes recommendations towards, complex business decisions.
  • Mediates across different IT teams utilizing knowledge of IT and roles and responsibilities within the organization.
  • Focuses on process analysis and re-engineering, with an understanding of technical problems and solutions as they relate to the current and future business environment.
  • Demonstrates excellent listening, communication, and facilitation skills.

Accountabilities

The Medical Segment IT Strategy, Integration, and Governance technology team is seeking to add a dynamic technology leader to its organization. This senior business analyst position will play a significant role in further developing the Medical Segment IT strategy and supporting a number of high-priority initiatives. In addition to strategy development, this leader will also focus on functional integration.

We are seeking a self-motivated leader who is excited by the challenge of managing a broad and sometimes undefined scope of work.

  • Technology Strategy (Medical Segment BRITS)
    • Key leader on core Medical BRITS (business relevant IT Strategy) team. Responsible for partnering business and technology leaders from across the Medical Segment/Enterprise to drive technology strategy development and planning.
    • Collaborate with Portfolio, Architecture, and Process Enablement leaders to govern Medical Technology Roadmap.  
    • Tight partnership with solution owners/product teams to ensure strategy is well understood and proposed investments align to strategic capability needs
    • Assemble and deliver executive level presentations to socialize strategy and garner support
  • Medical Segment Functional Integration
  • Hip-to-hip partnership with process enablement & solution teams to ensure solutions standardize, simplify, and integrate into the Medical technology landscape comprehensively
    • Ensure in-flight and upcoming projects maintain forward looking designs that are flexible to meet current and future needs of the business
    • Drive towards process consistency and technology standards – reducing the number of ways things work and applications required to support.
    • Ownership of segment design patterns and system flows. Establish a common repository of patterns available to Medical’s product teams. Participation on Product Flow Governance board.
  • M&A Integration Management
    • Partnership with Corporate Development team to complete technology due diligence deliverables/activities (as needed)
    • Central IT leader responsible for engaging the right leaders from Segment and Corporate technology teams to support M & A activity
  • Platform Governance Partnership
    • Partner with Medical IT Platform governance team to further optimize segment technology operations
    • Participation in segment community of practices and CoE Teams (Cloud Optimization, Health & Stability, BA CoP, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated experience working in a highly cross-functional environment
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, organizational and planning skills
  • Technical aptitude – broad understanding of commercial and supply chain technology. ERP process design and implementation experience preferred.
  • Effective oral/written communicator; excellent listener
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that includes Cardinal employees and offshore/onshore consultants
  • Ability to lead a highly cross-functional team to a common goal/objective
  • Management consulting experience preferred
