What Nuclear Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health

Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines.  Nuclear Pharmacy employees may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy.

  • 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday with start time between midnight and 2:00 am. Typically an 8 hour shift. Rotating weekends and holidays. Must be flexible to work different days, shifts and/or schedule based on business need. This is a 365 day a year operation.

This position is eligible for benefits the first day of employment. This includes medical, dental, vision, paid time off, 401K and more.

Accountabilities in this role

Under the immediate direction of a qualified licensed Staff Pharmacist, you will be trained to draw, dispense, and package radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with the regulations of the State Board of Pharmacy. Many of your duties will include:

  • Dispense doses by drawing radioactivity into a syringe or a vial
  • Perform quality assurance tests on lab instruments and prepared radiopharmaceuticals
  • Maintain computer inventory and records to ensure proper utilization of materials
  • Perform daily clean room and facility cleaning tasks
  • Speak with customers and address questions or concerns via telephone
  • Receive diagnostic prescription orders from customers via telephone
  • Package outgoing radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with applicable regulations
  • Perform clerical and administrative functions such as prescription record maintenance
  • Make deliveries to customers using company vehicles as needed


  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Current State Pharmacy Technician Registration required
  • Current PTCB Certification preferred
  • Previous IV or sterile compounding experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Dedication to excellent customer service
  • Ability to use technology such as computers and tablets
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing business demands
  • Comfortable performing repetitive tasks
  • Comfortable working around radiation/radioactivity
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs
  • Ability to work weekends or be in a weekend rotation
  • Ability to work holidays or be in a holiday rotation
