What Financial Planning & Analysis contributes to Cardinal Health

Finance oversees the accounting, tax, financial plans and policies of the organization, establishes and maintains fiscal controls, prepares and interprets financial reports, oversees financial systems and safeguards the organization's assets.

Financial Planning & Analysis provides strategic partnership and objective guidance to business units. It leads cross functional efforts to enable forward looking, actionable insights with a focus on driving strategic value that influences key business decisions.


  • Leads and aligns financial forecasts and long-range planning processes with our business leaders. Drives business value by providing financial and analytical counsel to facilitate decision-marking around business initiatives.

  • Lead preparation of capital analytics, support Global Products and Supply Chain (GPSC) end-to-end capital budgeting and forecasting process; drive budget and forecast accuracy

  • Identify and implement capital controls in partnership with Medical Segment FP&A team

  • Develop roadmap to streamline capital management, including implementation of a collaboration tool and audit mechanism

  • Responsible for leading sales & expense reporting and helping to deliver insights and support for the OEM leadership team.

  • Collaborate with the business leaders to understand underlying trends in business and act as a strategic partner, delivering meaningful insights and recommendations to improve profitability and margin.

  • Support development of sales compensation planning and analytics related to the sales force

  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

  • Drive a single source of truth for Capital planning, reporting and estimating by defining tools, cadence, standards and KPIs for capital

  • Perform modeling and analytics required to synthesize large sets of data and produce concise outputs to convey recommendation and/or conclusions to leadership

  • Identify risks, opportunities, and gaps to forecast and plan.  Identify and recommend corrective action plans to mitigate key risks.

  • Manage relevant accounting function / responsibility to ensure compliance with corporate policies.

  • Assist and guide direct reports (remote) in their daily work promoting their professional development as a value-added partner to the business.


  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field, or equivalent work experience preferred

  • 8+ years’ experience in related field preferred

  • Prior leadership experience is a plus

  • Strong Excel skills required

  • Experience with SAP, Tableau, Business Objects, Anaplan a plus
