Why Is This Role Critical?

The VP Field Clinical Operations opportunity will report to the Chief Clinical Officer. The VP proactively assumes responsibility for leading and executing on strategic initiatives and projects, and responding to requests. In all capacities, this role works collaboratively with all the other Senior Leadership positions across the organization.

Accountabilities

  • Partners with other Sr. leadership cross-functionally
  • Business and Strategic Planning
    • Support development of the strategic plan, long range plan and annual business plans in conjunction with other functional teams, providing insight and recommendations and ensuring alignment
    • Partner with Vice President of Strategy on initiatives and clinical operation program processes
    • Track progress against plan, identify any deviations and suggest plans to remediate; provide reports and analysis as required
    • Drive Health Services forecast, long range estimates and business planning materials including summarizing key themes, tracking of critical initiatives, financial impacts and changes
    • Coordinate with each of the respective Health Services leaders on expected deliverables, timing and current business updates
  • Internal Project Management
    • Prepare and coordinate resources and materials for critical meetings
    • Manage the agenda, material preparation and follow-up for the Bi-weekly clinical leadership team meeting and other meetings upon request
    • Gather and decipher critical documents and information, investigate and thoroughly answer critical questions, and ensure timely follow up on all action items
    • Anticipate, manage preparation for, and, when appropriate facilitate meetings and events on behalf of CCO.
    • Ensure adherence to deadlines
    • Develop presentations that would be included in CEO reports, Board of Directors’ reports, investor presentations, external correspondence, staff meetings, town halls, etc.
    • Assist in ensuring meeting agendas represent the key initiatives and the overall priorities of the business
  • Organizational Alignment
    • Assist leadership across the organization to create better alignment with business partners across CAH, Medical and Pharmacy and functional areas, thereby ensuring internal and external coordination and a unified approach to the market and associated constituents
    • Vets and provide feedback on programs and other key initiatives ensuring they are representative of senior executive’s goals and requirements
  • External Positioning
    • Serve as the gateway for the CCO for ensuring communications and activities for all constituents (e.g., HealthPlan and HealthSystem)
    • Have consistent overall messages
    • Review and provide insight to media activities, publications, thought leadership events, press releases, etc.
  • Analysis
    • Conduct date analysis designed to guide strategies and be more intelligent about how we approach the market
    • Identify and execute on research needs

Requirements

  • RN or advanced nursing license.
  • Masters or significant clinical operations experience
  • 10+ years of health industry experience and/or in a large complex matrixed organization experience
  • 7+ years of experience in leadership role
  • Operational leadership for a health plan strongly preferred
  • Extensive Utilization Management experience
  • Demonstrated business acumen in financial analysis, reporting and forecasting and solid understanding of operations
  • Expert at strategic conceptualization both at a local level and enterprise level
  • Strong analytical skills; has hands-on experience; ability to quickly aggregate and analyze information and draw conclusions
  • Marketing skills/background to understand how to communicate, position, and represent companies with external constituents
  • Strong communicator; capable of effectively presenting ideas and selling concepts and tactics; excellent writer, proven ability to communicate effectively with executive-levels; ability to quickly understand needs and act on those needs; ability to conceptualize and effectuate change management and ‘out-of-the-box’ thinking
  • Proven ability to build relationships cross-functionally and lead toward common goals
  • Demonstrated leadership and hands-on experience, strong leader and motivator with the ability to mentor talent within the organization; able to provide work direction; able to attract and retain top talent
  • Strong management skills; demonstrated history of managing significant and complex projects and large teams
  • Intermediate to advanced MS PowerPoint and Excel skills
  • Able travel up to 75%
