Coordinate and perform unscheduled maintenance, repairs and modifications on assigned equipment as needed and document changes as required by operating procedures. Assist in the maintenance of manufacturing equipment and provide instruction to Maintenance Technician I personnel during maintenance or repair. Provide technical assistance as requested and arrange for technical support if necessary to complete repairs. Ensure proper set-up of production machines and ancillary equipment according to procedures and product specifications at the completion of assigned tasks. Adhere to plant policies/procedures, department EHS rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), ISO 13485 regulations and Good Housekeeping procedures. Shall operate in a manner that protects the health and safety of its employees/visitors and operate in a manner that conserves energy, natural resources and protects the environment. Complete all paperwork pertaining to the finished product and maximo system being produced according to established guidelines in manufacturing procedures. Report any unusual or unacceptable circumstances to supervisor. Responsible to observe department’s regulations and to use personal protective equipment as required, must be safety conscious and Lockout/Tagout trained. Transport hazardous waste to accumulation areas. Complete Annual Hazardous Waste (RCRA) refresher training.


Verifiable experience in plant facility equipment. Working knowledge of how to reset and start up chillers and boilers. Practical experience of how to operate chiller and air compressor programs. Have knowledge of pipe fitting and plumbing. Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies in the work place as required. Have a working knowledge of welding equipment and be able to make major/minor welds. Know how to avoid the electrical hazards of working on or near exposed/unexposed energized (live) parts. Have the electrical skills and knowledge to safely conduct the assigned tasks and a perform electrical tasks commensurate with their level of training related to the construction and operation of electrical equipment, systems and installations.

Perform hazardous material/waste management operations:

Identify waste streams as hazardous or non-hazardous waste. Ensure we have on file, MSDS for each hazardous material handled. Select and use proper PPE when handling waste. Respond to spills of hazardous materials/wastes in accordance with Covidien Spill Procedure and SPCC plan. Conduct weekly inspections of the SAA and 90 day storage areas and record the results on Preventive maintenance Task for weekly Hazardous Waste Inspection Document and report any finding to the Department Supervisor and the Environmental Engineer.. Prepare hazardous waste and lab-packs for transport by licensed commercial carrier Sign and forward waste manifest from licensed commercial carrier to environmental office. Transport HW to the IWT Plant within the 90-day limit. (Personnel transporting HW must have received HW training). Complete Annual Hazardous Waste (RCRA) refresher training. Complete DOT Training every 3 years.

One year certificate from college or technical school (machinist, engineering technology) preferred or equivalent combination of training and experience


2-3 years of experience in industrial system and controllers (e.g. electrical system, motor controllers, boiler operation, HVAC, welding, plumbing, compressed air system, pumps operation, RO water system etc.)

Minimum requirements per position:

  • ELECTRICIANS: Must have a good knowledge of the NFPA70 and NFPA70E, good knowledge of motor controllers, conduit installation and wiring calculation. Also, needs to read electrical diagrams

  • HVAC: Must have a good knowledge of DX units, chillers, cooling towers, motor controllers, boilers, brazing, soldering, plumbing, BAS system, AHUs, fans, pumps and compressed air system. Also, needs to read electrical diagrams

  • SHEET METAL/FABRICATION: Must have good knowledge on welding (e.g. MIG, Tig, Arc welding and gas welding), sheet metal fabrication, run mills, lathes, grinders, saw and machine shop equipment, fabricate/repair machinery parts, machinery covers, use calipers and micrometers. Also, needs to know how to read drawings.

  • MECHANICS: Must have a good knowledge of mechanisms of the industrial machinery, good knowledge of pumps, plumbing, brazing, welding, gearboxes, fans, shafts, bearings, sprockets, chains, lubrication, air compressors, air scrubbers, lift stations, pulleys, belts, RO water system , motors and basic electrical and HVAC knowledge.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals. Ability to calculate rate and percent and interpret basic graphs. Basic Metrology knowledge.

Must be proficient in the use of small hand tools and electrical hand tools. Must be proficient with necessary measuring equipment (Dial calipers, micrometers, gages, et.)
