JOB SUMMARY

The Team Leader, who works under the direction of a Production Supervisor, provides leadership to a diverse team of employees, coordinates work assignments to meet production schedules, assists in department and individual performance, ensures compliance with CGMP regulations, ISO, FDA, OSHA safety regulations, and investigates and acts upon production related quality issues. Team size can vary from 10 to 30 people, and is comprised of one or more “cells” of machines. The Team Leader will be trained in, and will follow written procedures and oral instructions for work to be performed. Job performance will be based upon pre-determined criteria for quality of work and productivity, as well as attendance, company policies and procedures, safety performance, and standards of conduct.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform any or all of the following functions as assigned:

Follow all safety rules and company policies and ensure others in the area are also compliant.

Create and maintain a positive work environment through continuous communication, participation in common goals, and providing products and services that meet our customer’s specifications.

Use good judgment where decisions are required in the performance of assigned tasks, and in assigning tasks to operators.

Read and follow instructions for each assigned task as described in the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) Manual.

Provide instructions to operators where appropriate, based on performance standards. Ensure associates are engaged in work at all times. Take breaks at designated time to ensure leadership presence on floor during work times.

Perform tasks only for which the required training has been completed, approved, and documented, and ensure the same requirements are met before assigning another employee to perform a task.

Perform product inspections on rotating basis, and in accordance with training instructions. Use basic measurement equipment and visual aids.

Review and verify documentation to support production.

Provide team leadership to meet production and quality requirements by coordinating machine assignments to minimize downtime, facilitating communication between operators and mechanics, and ensuring lines are adequately stocked with materials.

Order materials as necessary to manufacture and package scheduled products in a timely manner. Identify inventory discrepancies and work with appropriate personnel to ensure their resolution.

Meet the production schedule. Advise supervisor and/or planner immediately if schedule is not being met.

Manage the team’s safety, GMP, and housekeeping compliance with standards to include proper smocking of all associates, ensuring waste receptacles are empty, floors are swept, corrugates are not stacked excessively, pallets are straight and in their proper locations, raw materials are covered, unnecessary items are removed from the cell, and uncontrolled documents are not in use on the production floor.

Coordinate and direct mechanical support, consistent with production and quality requirements.

Monitor and assist in training, as appropriate.

Follow supervisor’s instructions.

Conduct safety and quality “huddle sessions” with team as appropriate.

Manage the assignment of machine coverage where appropriate and consistent with the company policy.

Must be fork lift certified and proficient in the operation of same.

Transport product (finished in their department) to the staging area for the next step in the

process.

Must be willing and able to continuously improve their skills.

Ensure all materials are properly scanned and loaded.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or Experience. Previous Manufacturing experience required. High School Diploma/ GED required. Forklift certification preferred. Prior leadership experience preferred.

Must be a team worker and willing to assist in the achievement of established production standards.
