What Warehouse Operations contributes to Cardinal Health

Warehouse Operations is responsible for performing/controlling a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product. This may include functions of receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, delivery, etc. Also responsible for the efficient flow of products from the point of product receipt from vendors to the shipment of products (via prescribed service parameters) to a variety of internal and external customers.

Accountabilites

  • Manages a staff of 1-2 direct reports and 30 indirect reports
  • Accountable for the P&L including building, distribution, transportation and light assembly, and manufacturing
  • Works with corporate, human resources, sales force and customers on a daily basis
  • Ensures the timely distribution and receipt of product while meeting the distribution center standards of budget, policies, procedures and quality
  • Responsible for the development of the supervisory and employee population, which includes training, coaching, counseling and performance appraisals
  • Maintains positive employee relations

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required degree strongly preferred
  • 3-5 years operations leadership experience
  • 3-5 years experience in a distribution, warehouse, cross-dock, supply chain or manufacturing environment ( strongly preferred in a management role)
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Prior knowledge of Lean Six Sigma processes preferred
  • Knowledge of an ERP and Warehouse Management system
  • Transportation Management a Plus
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products

Meet William

I have been trained to load on the spurs, pick and handle floor stock. I have also run the command station and served as the 3rd shift warehouse lead. I hope that my being able to do almost any position in the warehouse can take some of the load off of someone else and make a difference for Cardinal Health members.
