EH&S is responsible for designing, developing and implementing EH&S procedures, programs, processes, and systems to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements and to eliminate or minimize EH&S risks to the Company, its employees, the environment and the communities in which it does business.
Demonstrates in-depth knowledge, understanding and application of environment, health and safety and workers' compensation laws and regulations and translates them into actionable processes, programs and practices.
Drives the understanding and implementation of the Cardinal Health EH&S management system.
Provides managerial support and subject matter expertise that ensures appropriate EH&S systems and resources are in place.
Designs, develops and implements procedures, programs, processes and systems that ensure EH&S compliance, and enhance EH&S performance.
Demonstrates depth and breadth of knowledge in the area of hazard recognition, evaluation and control.
Drives execution of tactical and strategic initiatives in order to eliminate hazards and reduce or eliminate the associated risks.
Provide managerial support and subject matter expertise that ensures appropriate EH&S systems and resources are in place.
Advise business and facility management on EH&S matters.
Build EH&S organizational capability. Assure competency and quality of business and facility level EH&S resources and develop, grow and nurture this talent.
Develop and deliver training and education programs to build and enhance EH&S knowledge and capability.
Continuously assess facility EH&S hazards and risks and provide assistance to facilities where specific technical expertise is required to meet federal, state or local regulations and company policies, procedures and programs.
Assist facilities in driving the execution of tactical and strategic initiatives in order to eliminate hazards and reduce or eliminate risks and drive continuous EH&S performance improvement.
Lead the development of business unit and facility EH&S plans to ensure conformance with regulatory and company requirements.
Through education and training and a “roll-up the sleeves” approach, drive the understanding and implementation of the Cardinal Health EH&S management system.
Provide leadership to the development of business and facility EH&S plans and goal setting, monitor performance and report on progress.
Actively participate in the investigation of significant EH&S incidents and ensure timely and complete implementation of corrective actions.
Act as a key communication channel for ensuring timely communication of significant business and facility activities and events.
Working with facility personnel, plan for and implement actions and activities to minimize and manage claims and to contain and control workers’ compensation costs. Provide hands-on assistance as necessary.
Bachelor's degree required in technical discipline (B.S in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science or engineering, orequivalent), advanced degree preferred
Previous supervisory/management experience with proven leadership ability.
A minimum of seven (7) years direct EH&S experience managing proven EH&S programs and solutions in a multi-facility environment.
Must have strong substantive knowledge of regulations and guidance promulgated by Federal and State EPA (especially RCRA) and OSHA as well as workers’ compensation requirements.
Strong familiarity, understanding and experience in EH&S management systems and their successful implementation.
Must be a self-starter, self-directed and able to work independently.
Must have sound judgment, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and not be afraid of rolling up the sleeves to develop and deliver practical solutions.
Must be able to clearly and succinctly communicate, market and sell practical EH&S solutions to all levels of company/business/regional and facility personnel.
Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Must be flexible and creative in developing solutions that deliver results.
Requires 50% travel.
