What IT Network contributes to Cardinal Health

IT Network is responsible for designing, implementing, operating and maintaining the Cardinal Health local and wide area networks and the Cardinal Health telephone systems, small and medium contact centers, and relationships with telecom service and maintenance vendors.

As a supervisor of the Network Delivery team, you will be accountable for supervising the team that deploys the network infrastructure to achieve project goals as well as physically performing remote site network infrastructure refreshes (the ability to travel one weekend a month and work independently is a must). You'll work closely with project management and with technical resources (employees, partner resources, and onshore/offshore contractors) on your team to ensure a smooth implementation and transition of the network infrastructure and related products to our production environments. This candidate could supervise a large, scalable combined Cardinal and partner team and will be primarily accountable for all network deployment activities for a set of projects. This is a technical working hands on supervisory position.

  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of networking concepts and systems including Routing and Switching, WAN/LAN, Cisco & HP network devices, VOIP, Aruba WLANs.

  • Manages department operations and supervises professional employees, vendor resources and business support staff

  • Prioritizes multiple tasks while meeting deadlines; communicates sourcing and project status (forecast, issues, risks, etc.) to stakeholders in an open and honest fashion.
  • Effectively balances competing project constraints including but not limited to scope, quality, schedule, funding, budget, resources, and risk to manage project success.
  • Ability to work closely with the project team and technical resources to gather and interpret requirements.

  • Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years experience in related field preferred
  • Applicable technical certifications preferred
  • Extensive network infrastructure background
  • Strong IT Technical and process skills
  • Understand client's infrastructures, their needs and provide expertise and consulting on network solutions
  • Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, etc.) are considered valued for this role
  • Working knowledge / experience with security tools including Palo Alto firewalls (VPN, NAT), F5, Ironport, Aruba Clear pass, solid knowledge of configuration of Cisco routers, switches, LAN/WAN/SDWAN systems, Liebert UPS units, Aruba wireless controllers and the associated access points. In addition, conduct wireless surveys, creating wireless heat maps, and designing wireless networks.
  • Working knowledge of F5 Big IP, LTM, GTM and ASM.
  • Working knowledge of OSPF, BGP and ACLs.
  • Working knowledge of VPNs.
  • 802.11 Wireless Handheld Device experience

The IT Network Remote Site Build Team is responsible for designing, implementing, operating and maintaining Cardinal Health’s IT network infrastructure at remote sites. This is a working technical supervisory position responsible to lead and direct a team of 10 to 12 engineers consisting of Cardinal Health FTE’s as well as a mix of contract engineers. The supervisor review’s and approves technical designs, physically deploys and turns up the Cardinal Health network infrastructure elements, change management implementation plans, approves timesheets, creates & maintains work schedules etc.

In addition, there will be times the working supervisor will perform and or lead a remote site refresh project. This is a hands on position and the successful candidate will actively participate on project calls which are conducted out of hours on nights and weekends. In addition, the candidate is expected to travel to Cardinal Health’s North American locations and physically on weekend a month which runs from Thursday to the following Thursday to deploy Liebert GTX4 series UPS units, Cisco 4331or Meraki MX65 routers, Cisco 3850 switches, HP 5130 switches, Aruba 7205 wireless controllers, Aruba WAP’s (215, 275, or 325), and is well versed in proper cable management.

Typically, our remote site locations consist of 15,000 sq. ft. to 30,000 sq. ft. of office space and 250,000 sq. ft. to 950,000 sq. ft. warehouse facilities. The position will also lead/support office environment hardware deployments/technical refreshes utilizing the same hardware as in remote locations in facilities ranging in size of 50,000 sq. ft. to 400,000 sq. ft. The successful candidate must have expert knowledge of Aruba wireless design utilizing the Ekahau software suite as well as perform initial and final wireless surveys as well as heat map creation in warehouse and office locations.
