The Deployment Leader (DL) is responsible for executing the strategic goals for Operational Excellence Cardinal Health; this includes the selection and development of resources, managing project pipelines and ensuring ongoing communication and perseverance related to progress and goal achievement.
Beyond project management and strategic goal alignment, this individual will lead, direct and mentor a team of six black belts. In addition, the DL is responsible for developing the foundation and road map for a sustainable lean culture that facilitates continuous improvement initiates and projects within the six distribution centers in the West region.
Serve as deployment leader for Cardinal’s West region; partner with region leaders to drive, influence, and contribute to business success
Lead and mentor a dispersed team of six black belts assigned to each distribution center within the West region
Identify opportunities for Black Belt and Kaizen projects, conduct analysis to scope projects, work with distribution center leaders to identify internal champions
In partnership with distribution center operations leaders, design, organize and lead Black Belt and Kaizen events
Use Lean Six Sigma expertise to facilitate problem-solving and work-out sessions to lead teams to address issues
Mentor Black Belts, Kaizen Leaders and Green Belts completing DMAIC projects to obtain certification requirements; instruct Lean Six Sigma training classes, as needed
Facilitate annual site audits on their Lead Roadmap to Success programs
Conduct special data analysis projects as requested by management
Coach distribution center leaders to establish performance measurement systems to identify improvements
Work with distribution center leaders and leaders across the region to align on opportunities and prioritize process improvement work
Communicate frequently with appropriate leaders regarding project status, issues and accomplishments
Partner with Senior Leadership to ensure alignment of work with strategy and objectives
Facilitate and champion project replication, sharing of best practices and documentation of standard operating procedures
Collaborate with segment department heads and/or functional leaders to remove impediments to progress
Demonstrate understanding of Cardinal’s business strategy and broad cross-functional improvement opportunities
Lead discussion and prioritization of broad, strategic improvement opportunities
Provide feedback to segment and corporate strategy processes
Manage project and organizational budgets
Develop and implement policies and procedures to achieve organizational goals
Assist in the development of functional strategy
Interact with internal and/or external leaders, including senior management
Persuade others into agreement in sensitive situations while maintaining positive relationships
Black Belt Certification required; Master Black Belt certification preferred
6+ years leadership experience required; prior distribution center operations experience strongly preferred
5+ years of project management and people leadership experience required
Understanding of P&L and balance sheets
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to travel 40+ percent
