JOB TITLE: Contracting Specialist

The contracting resource has a key role in the Sales process. He or she is responsible for taking the RFP response, MSA, implementation requirements, and any additional information and for creating contracts for new opportunities. He or she must be resourceful and avoid pulling in other stakeholders if the information is already available. This resource is accountable to ensure contracts meet the standard Sonexus requirements . He or she is also responsible for working with compliance and legal to obtain the necessary approvals.

This resource is also accountable for the contract governance process, ensuring that contracts are kept in one place where the appropriate stakeholders can access them. The most important part of the contract governance process will be ensuring contracts are reviewed and opportunities identified prior to renewal dates. This will help identify any changes to operational and IT requirements that must be changed or included in the new contract in order for that client to remain profitable.

Accountabilities in this role

  • Analyzes contract requirements, special provisions, terms and conditions to ensure compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, policies and company procedures
  • Drafts contracts
  • Communicates contract policy and practice to internal business teams. Ensures contract review, approval and execution are in accordance with standard contract requirements and contract guidelines
  • Prepares and administers routine correspondence and contract documentation to ensure timely and coordinated submittal
  • Prepares, organizes and maintains contract records and files documenting contract performance and compliance
  • May conduct research to support contract audit
  • Performs contract closeout activities including informing the appropriate stakeholders that the contract has been signed
  • Reviews contracts upon renewal to determine if changes to IT and operational requirements are needed.
  • Consults with Sales /CRMs/Operations to determine who will be responsible to “sell” the changes


  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • 2-5 years of contract-related experience
  • Understanding of Pharma industry
  • Basic working knowledge of corporate policies and procedures
  • Basic working knowledge of contracting concepts
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to draft contractual instruments in accordance with prescribed templates and guidelines
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage, prioritize, and work on multiple contracts at a time
