Position Summary:

The Transportation Consultant has a dual role of supporting both the Phoenix and Denver DCs. This individual works closely with all departments to ensure a productive and efficient delivery operations. This person is responsible for all aspects of our delivery operations including, but not limited to: timeliness of deliveries; delivery hub audits; delivery related projects; courier RFP process; courier education; quality of deliveries; damage reduction; accuracy of courier invoices; all productivity and expense goals.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the productivity and quality of deliveries by coordinating with other departments and the couriers to facilitate an efficient operation
  • Regularly meet with the delivery company’s senior and local management teams
  • Conduct customer delivery visits and audits to maintain customer satisfaction of deliveries
  • Develop and implement modifications to improve the quality of service to our customers
  • Enhance own knowledge base through industry related training
  • Ensure that the corporation's principles, policies, and programs are consistently practiced
  • Monitor compliance of safety, security, and regulatory processes and procedures.
  • Up to 30% travel required
  • Weekly auditing of freight bills
  • Prepare and submit regular and ad hoc reports
  • Take the lead or assist with lost in transit investigations
  • Required to work with Lean Six Sigma Black Belts to gain Operations Excellence certification and knowledge

Education / Experience:

  • BS/BA in business, logistics, or finance or equivalent work experience
  • At least 3-4 years of transportation experience
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Customer service or sales experience preferred

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Leadership, analytical, organizational skills with an ability to analyze problems and develop solutions
  • Advanced PC skills – Database; Access; Excel
  • Must be able to perform multi-faceted projects in conjunction with normal activities in a fast-paced environment
  • Creatively meeting customer expectations while balancing costs with the needs of our operations and company
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
  • It is preferred that this position be based out of Phoenix, though Denver will be considered an option if strongly desired by a highly qualified candidate.
