What Strategic Sourcing contributes to Cardinal Health:
Strategic Sourcing is responsible for the development and execution of sourcing strategies to leverage relationships within business entities or across the enterprise to achieve best total value from suppliers. Sourcing roles include Category and or Commodity management strategies and execution, supplier relationship management, negotiation, risk management and supply base performance management.

What is expected of you for success in your role:

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of best practices in strategic sourcing process for defined category
  • Utilizes business and market data for defined categories to identify opportunities
  • Develops sourcing strategy specific to defined category in order to reduce cost and mitigate risk for Cardinal Health
  • Manages projects of medium complexity and utilizes project management skills to drive results and manage deadlines
  • Identifies, evaluates and recommends suppliers
  • Develops negotiation plan and contract terms and conditions to manage risk
  • Participates in and leads negotiation process
  • Ensures that appropriate supplier metrics are developed
  • Ensures on-going monitoring of supplier performance
  • Builds strong relationship with internal stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Works to understand complex functional situations by paying attention to the details of the tasks at hand and by breaking them down into smaller pieces
  • Collaborates with others and builds strategic alliances globally; negotiates to build broad-based support and/or persuades others in order to influence important outcomes.
  • Demonstrates and executes on knowledge and understanding of relevant business process(es), organization and/or function-specific processes, at various levels to ensure successful completion of project, process, etc.
  • Measures and evaluates the effectiveness of programs or deliverables; compares measurement results to Standards, and takes immediate action to close gaps identified.
  • Evaluates alternative solutions/decisions in light of the potential impact on the internal/external customer and Cardinal Health; understands the resource implications of solutions and makes recommendations in adherence to governance and prioritization guidelines.

Job Requirements:

Education: High School Diploma or GED required; - Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related degree is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in a related field

- Experience with sourcing process is preferred

- Experience with contract language is preferred

Skills/Competencies:

  • Superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Project Management skills preferred
  • Able to communicate effectively and interact with personnel at all levels of the organization
  • Financial acumen to calculate savings and impact business partner budgets
  • Ability to translate data into information for use by the business for decision-making purposes
