What Risk Management contributes to Cardinal Health

Risk Management is responsible for identifying property, casualty and executive risks, recommending risk transfer solutions and administering risk transfer programs. Mitigates retained risk via loss prevention and loss control programs.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of and experience in international casualty and cyber risk insurance markets including risk transfer solutions as well as an understanding of company operations, products and risks.
  • Demonstrates ability to present company risk exposures to external insurance vendors and negotiate favorable insurance terms and prices.
  • Coordinates and manages multiple parties involved in handling claims to control the cost of retained losses.
  • Selects insurance vendors, including negotiation of insurance coverage and cost and management of related service vendors.
  • Directs property loss prevention strategies and persuades business partners to support such strategies.
  • Manages retained liabilities, including claims handling and calculation of reserves for outstanding liabilities.
  • Demonstrates general finance knowledge needed to support financial forecasting and calculations of reserves for outstanding claims liabilities.
  • Supports business partners in identifying, assessing and mitigating risks from business transactions and new initiatives (M&A, customer & vendor contracts and new products & services.)

Accountabilities in this role

  • Assists with selection insurance vendors, including negotiation of insurance coverage and cost and management of related service vendors.
  • Understands general finance knowledge including retained liabilities and calculation of reserves for outstanding liabilities
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures to achieve specific goals
  • Collects, prepares and analyzes the risk exposure for the international casualty and cyber risk programs
  • Uses deep subject matter/functional expertise, influence and process skills to help internal/external customers and stakeholders identify and meet their high priority needs while considering cultural and diversity implications
  • Review insurance language in contracts to mitigate risk to the business
  • Familiarity with captive insurance programs a plus
  • Collects, prepares and analyzes the risk exposure for the international casualty and cyber risk programs
  • Assist with calculations and analyzing of exposures for the annual budget for insurance premiums and allocations.
  • Decisions have a short-term impact on work processes, outcomes, and customers
  • Interacts with subordinates, peer customers and suppliers at various management levels
  • Interactions normally involves resolution of issues related to operations and/or projects
  • Gains consensus from various parties involved
  • Plan, recommend and implement major process improvement initiatives in alignment with other key stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years experience in Risk Management or P&C Insurance
  • Excellent oral and written presentation and communication skills
  • Multilingual preferred
