Transportation is responsible for the movement of materials and products between suppliers, manufacturing, warehousing and the customer. Management of transportation assets and systems to gain greater service, cost efficiency and optimization of processes.

The Transportation Manager will be an integral part of the Corporate operations team. This role will manage and coordinate transportation needs while developing strategic protocols and processes to improve the customer experience. They are the business expert in the area of transportation with experience in P&L responsibility, favorable customer experience, relationship management with internal and external providers, service level management , problem-solving with supplier issues or disputes, stake holder in last mile  supply chain. They are the primary owner of network transportation initiatives supporting tactical maintenance.


  • Bachelor's degree in Operations
  • 3-5 years work experience in operations.
  • Computer applications experience including MS Office strongly desired to include vlookup, pivot table creation and review.
  • Experience in transportation/operations or process improvement, and driven by KPI results
  • Application experience using Supply Chain Management/ TMS systems preferred
  • P&L management and reporting experience and strong organizational background desired
    • Broad organizational knowledge is recommended since this role regularly interacts with field and corporate departments.
  • Excellent customer service, problem solving and decision making skills desired
  • Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma (continuous improvement)
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Ability to operate in cross-functional teams, in a matrix organizational structure
  • Must have a solid understanding of transportation methodology, audit procedure development and overall audit project management.
  • Must have the ability to make decisions.
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Must demonstrate maturity and be able to respond positively to constructive criticism, suggestions, and conflicting ideas.
  • Previous contracting experience helpful.
  • Must have the ability to interact effectively with people in all levels of the organization.
  • Must have flexibility to travel and work late when required.
  • Must demonstrate: expert level of proficiency in Excel, a high level of proficiency in MS Word, Power Point, and working knowledge of various web-based databases [Working knowledge of AS400, Visio, TMW, SQL Report Services, Airclic and TLM a plus].
  • SOX,  accounting/company experience a plus.
  • Strong relationship skills both internal and external customers

  • Support SLA reporting and resolution process on all modes

  • Provide input and validate invoice process with field/courier teams

  • Execute security guidelines and audit process

  • Execute semi-annual carrier meeting

  • Plan and perform operational audits covering the key functional and operating units, focusing on financial, operational and IT processes, as well as, internal controls

  • Perform various research, administrative and other ad hoc projects as and when required

  • Provide data and tracking visibility into shipment status on a regular basis

Additional Duties

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of Transportation contract / pricing processes, systems and work streams
  • Demonstrates  working understanding of customer/carrier key metrics around delivery processes
  • Demonstrates advanced  knowledge of the Pharmaceutical Distribution delivery environment
  • Review and approve financial transactions supporting the site transportation payment via a third party
  • Interacts with subordinates, peers, customers and suppliers at various levels to include VP and above in the management and creation of solutions and processes
  • Support LSS process initiatives to improve the experience with field and suppliers
  • Primary owner of the monitoring of advanced  transportation financial controls
