Transportation Analyst, Western Region

Cardinal Health Canada is currently seeking a Transportation Analyst to join the Operations and Transportation Teams in either Calgary or Edmonton.

This incumbent will be accountable for the management of all outbound analysis and reports required to support the Western Region Transportation functions. He / She will be responsible for the timely communication of all regional carrier and transportation updates to the Western Operations teams. The incumbent will provide analytical support for all Transportation management functions to ensure cost control, service levels, information flow, as well as enforce compliance. The successful candidate will also assist with the development of transportation initiatives as an integral part of the Western Operations team.


  • Analyse Regional Transportation costs, Carrier rates and service levels.
  • Compile common Carrier outbound & inbound summary reporting.
  • Report and analyze Carrier partners’ compliancy and performance.
  • Take part and or lead quarterly business review process with Carrier partners.
  • Prepare month end inbound and outbound accruals relative to freight plan.
  • Analyse regional activities and interpret operation results to develop solutions to help drive profitability and growth.
  • Provide guidance as necessary to optimize transportation systems, methods, procedures and costs.
  • Work with our national Customer Care team to determine root causes of service level defects.
  • Work with the broader organization to provide customer focused solutions around transportation. 
  • Maintain data integrity and accurate financial (G/L) allocation.
  • Provide daily Interprovincial reports relative to plan.
  • Provide weekly expense reports relative to plan.
  • Maintain department KPI’s and measure for continuous improvements.


  • 2- 5 years transportation experience in financial, revenue or performance analysis;
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field;
  • P.Log or CITT professional certification is considered an asset;
  • Excellent problem-solving and multi-tasking skills, adaptable to change and able to reprioritize on short-notice;
  • Solid experience in business case and data analysis;
  • Strong business acumen;
  • Resourceful and autonomous;
  • Excellent communication, presentation and analytical skills;
  • Expert in the Microsoft Product Offering (principally Excel and Access);
  • SQL Query, AS400, Visual basic and JD Edwards knowledge is preferred.
