What Data Center Operations contributes to Cardinal Health

Data Center Operations is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and escalating critical events on systems and applications across the enterprise. Along with maintaining  and monitoring  power, cooling, floor space and fire suppression on the data center infrastructure.

  • Escalate/reported system alerts for Hardware (ISeries, Windows, Linux, UNIX and Storage) to support teams

  • Monitor alerting systems: Tivoli, Bytware, Unifier, Sitescan, Fire panel, CAT monitor and MIR3

  • Perform application update processing (SAP Transports)
  • Working with application and systems analysts in problem determination for processing errors and the resolution for test and production systems
  • Resolves user problems, from the helpdesk, phone calls and email/IM requests

  • Builds an understanding of the business and the impact of missed SLA’s and how it impacts our customers

  • Open/Update/Assign/Resolve incidents in Service Now and monitor operation’s queue

  • Monitor Enterprise mailbox for requests
  • Reset user profiles/passwords
  • Kill user sessions on AS400 systems
  • Assist first level windows and Unix/Linux server support teams (reboot servers, cable connection verification as requested)
  • Responsible for monitoring and reacting to facilities alarms for air conditioning, water alarm, fire alarm, and power protection systems (UPS) in the computer operations area


The responsibilities for this position revolve around supporting all systems managed by the Data Center.  Those responsibilities include: Monitoring systems on various computer platforms including multiple client/server environments, AS400, UNIX/Linux, UC4 (Automic), SAP, and Robot.  Functions include responding to Service Now incidents/requests, investigating jobs, monitoring for abends, performing job restarts and other tasks as requested by support.  Supporting and escalating to support groups and/or vendors.  Following/enforcing defined security procedures.  This job will require working a specific shift schedule including weekends and holidays as required.


  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years experience in related field preferred
  • Able to work 3rd Shift
