Senior Project Manager

As a Senior Project Manager, you will successfully organize and lead cross-functional project teams on high visibility project initiatives under the direction of the Director of Strategic Project Management. These cross-functional project teams will include personnel from various groups within the organization and outside vendors.  The multiple projects you manage will be global in both scale and scope, will represent significant business opportunities for Cardinal Health, and have direct visibility to senior management. Work closely with R&D, Engineering, Regulatory, Quality, and Manufacturing core team members to ensure that projects are delivered within budget and schedule.

Projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and support new technologies
  • Collaborative leadership in support of strategic sourcing initiatives
  • Leading project team activities to reduce manufacturing costs
  • Analysis and implementation of plant/operational restructuring

What Engineering Program/Project Management contributes to Cardinal Health

Program/Project Management is responsible for managing the execution of programs and/or projects consisting of single or multiple projects and/or programs. May manage project and/or program managers within assigned program and/or project. Works within the constraints of budget, schedule and scope while managing risk and ensuring adherence to established processes and methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field required
  • A minimum of 4+ years related work experience required, 10 or more years strongly preferred
  • Advanced Engineering degree or MBA preferred
  • Medical Device Project Management Experience a very strong plus
  • PMI certification or in process of certification preferred
  • Trained Certified in Lean and /or 6 Sigma methodologies preferred
  • Ability to balance customer, manufacturing, and business requirements to expedite project launch
  • Ability to work independently (self-directed) with a strong track record of managing projects to schedule
  • Excellent interpersonal and influence management skills including evidence of managing multi-discipline teams
  • Experience effectively handling conflict through proactive action, and direct and timely communication
  • Attention to detail and experience to check behind the scenes to ensure surprises are minimized
  • Set the standard for timeliness, work ethic, and personal integrity
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Strong business case development skills with good cost accounting vocabulary
  • Strong Computer skills; proficiency in MS office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)
  • Willing and able travel domestically and internationally, approximately 75%

Accountabilites:

  • Lead cross-functional teams on key strategic projects
  • Develop and execute strategic project plans including schedules, budgets, and resources
  • Define project resource requirements and negotiate team assignments with functional managers
  • Plan, coordinate and track project activities
  • Management of project budget and oversight of capital expenditures
  • Develop and monitor risk mitigations plans to ensure business and project objectives are met
  • Support outside contract/supply agreement contract development and vendor management
  • Challenge functional groups to meet project goals and commitments
  • Provide routine project status communications to project team and management
  • Utilize coaching and facilitating skills with program shareholders to ensure proper project management protocols are employed and best practices utilized
