Senior Director, Business Development

Position Summary

The Senior Director of Business Development contributes to the development and execution of core strategies and organic and inorganic growth initiatives within Cardinal Health’s Nuclear Pharmacy Services business, ensuring the business unit achieves its strategic and financial objectives. In addition, the Senior Director will maintain real-time awareness of market trends, competitive actions and fresh strategic partnerships, furthering segment and enterprise leadership’s knowledge of the market and its potential impact on their business.

Position Responsibilities

 Work with Nuclear Pharmacy Services (NPS) leadership to understand the strategic direction and objectives of the organization and align on strategies in support of this direction

 Excel in a matrixed management environment; communicate regularly with executive teams
 Work with external advisors in the evaluation and execution of strategic opportunities
 Proactively prospect for, develop and maintain a pipeline of strategic opportunities
 Collaborate with NPS leadership, a myriad of colleagues and external sources to identify potential partnership or acquisition candidates which support the broader organizational goals
 Develops and manages long term relationships with identified opinion leaders and thought leaders to achieve scientific, educational and business goals
 Be a resource in the process to assess/select new internal intellectual property to pursue
 Provide briefs to NPS leadership on emergent competitors/technologies
 Provide market analysis in support of decisions to pursue new product or service opportunities
 Drive the initial financial and operational evaluation of the business development opportunities; work with finance to evaluate financial impact of prospective opportunities
 Prepare presentation materials in support of recommendations to proceed with strategic opportunities
 Lead and/or support financial and operational due diligence
 Successfully lead negotiations that satisfy business objectives for both Cardinal Health NPS and the partner
 Serve as primary Cardinal Health NPS account owner for select Strategic Partners and ensure expected business results are realized for both parties
 Maintain an understanding of regulatory, market, and competitive trends which impacts the company’s strategic positioning
 Expand the company’s network of trusted advisors and information sources with respect to business development

Position Qualifications

 BS in life sciences; demonstrated strong scientific knowledge in related field (e.g., biology, chemistry, laboratory sciences, imaging); MBA also strongly preferred
 Demonstrated experience and track-record in building successful partnerships/concluding successful acquisitions
 5 plus years of business development experience in radiopharmaceuticals (preferred), pharmaceuticals, in-vitro lab diagnostics or medical device sectors with a complex, competitive, global company
 Solid financial acumen
 Fast learner of technical and scientific concepts
 Ability to read and understand patents and intellectual property
 Experience in reading, writing, and negotiating licenses, partnership agreements, and related legal documents
