Hospital Pharmacy Technician – PRN

This position is a PRN pharmacy technician position with a maximum of 20 hours a week.  Pharmacy Hours Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 2:00PM. 

Pharmacy technician performs daily, weekly and monthly responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy at a 50-bed behavioral health facility.

Accountabilities:

  • Inventory Management: Purchasing medications; managing inventory; restocking automated dispensing cabinets; unit-dosing medications; managing expired medications.
  • Third-Party Billing: Assessing and determining medications to be billed monthly to third-party payors; completing monthly and discharge medication billing; managing and tracking third-party rejections and potential formulary changes.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Prescription Monitoring Program reporting; annual inventories; medication area inspections; competency training and assessments.
  • Clinical Assistance: Completing patient chart audits with pertinent information for pharmacist to review for interdisciplinary team meetings and performance improvement.
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • State Pharmacy Technician license or national pharmacy technician registration/license required 
  • Previous experience working as a Pharmacy Technician is highly preferred
  • In-patient hospital pharmacy experience highly preferred
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Strong customer service skills required
  • Comfortable performing repetitive motions/tasks is required
  • Ability to manage several tasks at the same time; Ability to focus on tasks ; Ability to evaluate operating conditions ; Ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smart phones and tablets
