Compensation is responsible for identifying, designing and recommending competitive compensation programs that attract and retain employees, and driving performance & results.

  • Consults on compensation programs for international locations including compensation structures, short and long term incentive programs, salary administration, etc.   
  • Participates in merger and acquisition activities including reviewing current compensation programs of newly acquired companies and creating strategy for integrating newly acquired employees into Cardinal Health's current compensation programs. 
  • Consults with HR and Business Leaders to develop and administer solutions for compensation-related issues.  Participates in the development of short and long-term compensation strategies, plans objectives to effectively address business needs. 
  • Interprets internal and external market drivers to evaluate current compensation programs and recommends/implements changes to improve program effectiveness.
  • Applies incentive/reward theory and best practices in support of the development of programs.
  • Creates new and leverages current compensation tools/methodologies in the strategic design of compensation programs.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local legal requirements. 
  • Provides leadership to managers and experienced professional staff; may also manage front line supervisors
  • Assists in the development of functional strategy

Accountabilities

  • Will help define and develop the strategic vision for global compensation that supports the business strategy and objectives
  • Helps in leading the design and development for Cardinal Health’s compensation programs, plans and policies, while balancing global consistency and local requirements
  • Responsible for engaging with senior business leaders to understand divisional goals and challenges that form the compensation strategy and design
  • Partners with HR leadership to ensure alignment of compensation-related priorities and investment decisions
  • Will operate as a compensation thought leader to understand and shape leading and emerging practices based on industry trends and external market practices
  • Responsible for the management, coaching, and development of Direct Reports
  • Plays a lead role in the development and evolution of the company’s compensation philosophy
  • Leads and manages the day-to day responsibilities of the compensation function including survey participation, job code maintenance, salary structure, FLSA, etc.
  • Manages divisional compensation support and analysis, including developing effective analytics that enables the organization to make data-driven compensation decisions
  • Monitors existing compensation program effectiveness, while focusing on continuous improvement
  • Partners with the HR Operations team on the annual compensation planning process, including preparation of salary budget recommendations
  • Remains knowledgeable of federal, state, and local laws to ensure that the compensation programs are compliant with corporate policies and government regulations

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s and Advanced Degree in related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 12+ years experience in related field
  • Prior supervisory experience including 5+ years people management experience
  • Certified Compensation Professional
  • Experience with Workday, HRIS, and Microsoft Office highly desirable
  • Ability to influence, deliver results and collaborate across functions and teams to ensure strategic alignment, organizational buy-in and operational effectiveness
  • Strong business and financial acumen and confident presence with senior management
