Executive Summary

Sourcing professional responsible for a mix of Cardinal Health brand as well as National Brand products, requires ability to lead supplier negotiations and manage portfolio to drive best cost.  Comfortable working cross-functionally and ability to influence others in order to meet business objectives.

What Global Sourcing contributes to Cardinal Health

Global Sourcing is responsible for creating and managing diverse strategic supplier partnerships that drive enterprise value with innovation, best cost and competitive advantages that benefit customers, suppliers and patients. Develops and executes strategic plans by leveraging market intelligence, industry knowledge and cross-functional collaboration. Competitive advantage is created through supplier selection and management, contract negotiation, supply chain optimization and risk mitigation.


  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Concentration in Business Administration, Finance, Operations or Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience in related field
  • Familiarity with sourcing medical products preferred
  • Experience with identifying/protecting intellectual property, contracts and negotiation required
  • Experience with locating and qualifying new suppliers and or manufactures
  • Superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate effectively and interact with personnel at all levels of technical ability and expertise.
  • Intermediate to advanced financial modeling/analysis and Microsoft Office skillset

What is expected of you and others at this level

  • Identifies global sourcing opportunities through collaboratively working across Presource teams to ensure best cost and that highest quality is delivered to the Presource business (marketing, sales operations, product management, manufacturing, distribution operations, various sourcing teams and finance).
  • Applies comprehensive knowledge and a thorough understanding of global sourcing concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to perform varied tasks and projects.
  • Familiar with supply and distribution agreements containing global pricing models.
  • Structure all contracts to manage risk and ensure consistency with overall sourcing strategy.
  • Completes work independently and receives general guidance on new projects and initiatives.
  • Works on medium to large scope projects with varying degrees of complexity.
  • Develops technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are innovative and consistent with organization objectives.
  • Regularly present projects, strategies and timelines to peers and/or leadership.
  • Develop / maintain positive relationships with external customers (suppliers, brokers, manufacturer, etc.).
  • May contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
  • May act as a mentor to less experienced colleagues.
  • Travel 10%-15%.
