What IT Network contributes to Cardinal Health

IT Network is responsible for designing, implementing, operating and maintaining the Cardinal Health local and wide area networks and the Cardinal Health telephone systems, small and medium contact centers, and relationships with telecom service and maintenance vendors.

  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of networking concepts and systems including Routing and Switching, WAN/LAN, Cisco & HP network devices, VOIP, WLANs.
  • Demonstrates excellent problem solving skills and ability to make independent decisions.
  • Oversees the purchase, installation, and support of network communications including LAN/WAN systems, T1, SIP, and VOIP systems.
  • Monitors data/voice traffic and controls network/voice resource performance to ensure high quality transmission and call quality.
  • Investigates and resolves security incidents and recommends enhancements to improve security.
  • Applies comprehensive knowledge and thorough understanding of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities.
  • Investigates and resolves vendor incidents through maintenance contracts.
  • Possesses knowledge of telecom technologies, hardware, software and telephony connectivity.
  • Fixes all telecom issues at all Cardinal Health sites.
  • Runs reports on telecom health.
  • Investigates and resolves vendor incidents through maintenance contracts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support Tier1 monitoring and incident management in 7X24 Network Operations Center
  • Troubleshoot Cisco, Aruba, HP, and Meraki devices.
  • Consults with Senior and Supervisor on complex and unusual problems
  • Works on routine assignments that require basic problem resolution and escalation
  • Receives general direction on standard work; receives detailed instruction on new assignments
  • Is self-motivated, and ability to multi-task in enterprise environment
  • Requires excellent communication and phone skills.
  • Open/Update/Assign/Resolve incidents in Service Now and monitor ticket queue
  • Builds an understanding of the business and impact of missed SLA’s and how it impacts our customers
  • Maintains a variety of documentation: including operation’s procedures (SOP), run sheets, and turnover.
  • Learning and obtaining certifications in two of the following areas within three years of hire date: Network, Windows, VMware, and Storage (Cardinal will fund).

Position Requirements:

Education or Equivalent:

  • BA, BS or equivalent job experience    
  • 1-2 years’ experience in an IT infrastructure support position in a large-scale environment.  
  • Technical certification is desirable.

Knowledge/Skills Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix, etc.) and technical platforms (Networks, Firewalls, Storage, Virtualization, etc)
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and systems including Routing and Switching, Cisco, HP & F5 network devices, VOIP, WLANs.
  • Knowledge of the following tools is a plus:
    • Tivoli ITNM, SolarWinds, NetQos, Service Now
  • Analyst must have good communication, organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to respond well to problems or challenges under pressure.
  • Ability to work any shift in 24X7 environment
